What this service covers
This service applies to unpacked goods, inadequate packaging or cargo with handling restrictions. We collect photos, weights, dimensions and manufacturer instructions to assess pallets, crates or protective covers.
Final package weight and dimensions are recorded for freight planning and checked against the contents list. The packaged dimensions may differ substantially from the bare item.
Who is this for?
- You have an uncrated machine to ship.
- You are preparing fragile or moisture-sensitive goods for export.
What ISABO does
Identify sensitivities
We note fragile or protruding parts, moisture sensitivity and approved lifting points from the manufacturer’s information.
Select packaging and protection
We review the need for a crate, pallet, cushioning or moisture barrier and agree the preparation method.
Check loading and securing
We review stacking, lashing and lifting equipment against the goods’ constraints.
Record each package
We collect package number, contents, weight and dimensions, with handling marks for carrier and receiver.
What will you receive?
Packaging proposal
The type of case, pallet or protective wrap needed, including sensitive parts to protect.
Handling instructions
Lift points, stacking limits and securing instructions for the parties handling the cargo.
Final package details
Package numbers, contents, weights and dimensions for the packing list.
Before choosing a case or wrap
Start with the goods themselves; a sturdy-looking box is not sufficient.
- Shock and moisture
- Which parts are vulnerable, and what storage or protection instructions has the maker supplied?
- Lifting and stacking
- Where may it be lifted? Can another package be placed on top or can it be rotated?
- Before and after packing
- Record both product and final package dimensions; booking is based on the finished package.

What affects time and cost?
A dependable estimate follows a review of the actual goods, documents and agreed scope.
Size, weight and sensitivity
Fragility, center of gravity, surface strength and value determine protection.
Packaging type
Palletizing, custom crates, lashing or insulation each have different materials and lead times.
Mode and handling frequency
Sea, air or road transport and the number of transfers affect strength and equipment needs.
Worksite and deadline
Site access, lifting equipment, item count and urgency change the schedule and price.

Frequently asked questions
Must we replace the factory packaging?
Not necessarily. We compare it with the transport conditions; it may be sufficient or need reinforcement.
Can packages be stacked?
We check package strength and product limits. Manufacturer restrictions must appear in markings and loading instructions.
What is checked for a wooden crate?
Wood type, destination and carrier acceptance conditions. Any required treatment or paperwork depends on those specifics.
Why are bare-item dimensions insufficient for freight quotes?
Crates, pallets and protection add volume and weight. The carrier needs the final packed measurements.
